What weather!
Hot days – cold nights… and finally, a little drizzle the last two days.
The plants don’t seem to mind much – everything is exploding!
While a few tulips were still visible in the first days of May, they’ve already faded.
The pear and apple blossoms have already given way to small fruits, as have the currants and kiwi. We barely spotted the elderberry buds when it bloomed. The hydrangea, which we brought back from the Azores last summer as a twig, also began blooming within a week. The oriental poppy has thick buds, and the roses, earlier than ever, won’t be long now. The first ones have been blooming for a few days already!
Also in bloom: German speedwell, bluebells, strawberries, clematis, giant rhubarb, Veronica ornamental onion, daisies, dwarf lilac, and some ornamental shrubs.
Tomatoes, peppers, and lettuce (which is almost ready!) are growing in the greenhouse. Peas, beans, beets, and chard are growing in the beds.
The tree peony is giving way to the peony!
